Launching Africa’s largest agricultural hub in Cross River State

Project Title:

Launching Africa’s Largest Agricultural Hub in Cross River State

Introduction:

As part of its continental vision for revival and sustainability, Burundi Missions is undertaking a bold, transformative project: the launch of Africa’s largest Christian agricultural hub in Cross River State, Nigeria. This initiative blends evangelism, food security, discipleship, and vocational training into a single, life-changing effort — designed to empower communities, raise Christian professionals, and fund the mission through righteous labor.

This hub will not only provide food but also produce disciples, farmers, teachers, engineers, and entrepreneurs — all anchored in sound doctrine and conservative Christian values.

Project Objectives:

  • Establish a mega, multi-sector farming community with modern agricultural operations run by born-again workers.
  • Train over 200,000 farmers in biblical stewardship, sustainable farming techniques, and agro-business models.
  • Integrate discipleship programs, youth training, and revival culture into every layer of the hub.
  • Support rural mission outposts across Nigeria and Africa with food, materials, and financial resources.
  • Create a self-sustaining Christian ecosystem that becomes a model for mission-based development.

Key Components of the Hub:

  1. Large-Scale Crop Production:
    • Food crops: cassava, maize, rice, yam, plantain
    • Cash crops: cocoa, oil palm, rubber, cashew
  2. Animal Husbandry:
    • Cattle ranching (Obudu Plateau), poultry, piggery, goats, sheep, and rabbit farming
    • Veterinary units and training centers for animal health
  3. Fish and Snail Farming:
    • Aquaculture (catfish, tilapia)
    • Snail farms with export potential
  4. Agro-Processing and Food Storage:
    • Cassava processing, rice milling, tomato paste production
    • Solar dryers and storage units for long shelf-life products
  5. Christian Agricultural Training Institute:
    • Offers vocational and spiritual training for young farmers, widows, and rural missionaries
    • Certificate programs in farm management, agro-entrepreneurship, and agricultural missions
  6. Residential Christian Farming Community:
    • A conservative Christian settlement modeled after the Bohemian Brethren
    • Daily devotion, communal labor, discipleship schools, and missions base operations

Mandate:

“To turn barren lands into fruitful fields — raising a generation of Christian farmers who feed the body and nourish the soul, while funding and fueling the Gospel across Africa.”

Short-Term Impact (1–3 Years):

  • 10,000+ hectares cultivated for food and cash crops
  • 5,000+ youths and widows trained in modern farming and discipleship
  • Food support for Burundi Missions schools and hospitals
  • Economic empowerment for poor rural families

Long-Term Impact (5–10 Years):

  • A self-sustaining farm hub providing financial strength to missions
  • Over 200,000 Christian farmers established across Africa
  • Export-grade food products and faith-based businesses rooted in righteousness
  • A visible model of how agriculture can serve both Kingdom and community

Conclusion:

This Agricultural Hub is not just a farm — it is a missions engine, a training ground, a Gospel channel, and a light on a hill. With Cross River State as its home, this project will stand as a living testimony that Christian missions can be productive, sustainable, and community-transforming.

Let every seed sown here bring forth fruit — not just for the stomach, but for the salvation of nations.
